The FCA (Financial Regulator of the United Kingdom) has already warned about them, for fraud and not being regulated (see FCA link), also the SBS (Financial Regulator of Peru) has warned about this FRAUD (see SBS link). Do not send them money, they want to get as much money as possible with lies, the operations are not real, the money is not put on the market, they only show it and in the end they tell you that you have lost and they keep it.
If to withdraw your money they ask you for more to pay taxes, fees, legalizations, etc. Do not do it! It is a clear sign that they want to steal your money and they will not return anything even if you pay.

It is not really true that Olymp Trade is an unregulated broker.
CySEC is not the only regulator that exists in the world. From what I know, the broker operates under the regulation of FinaCOM. This company works to ensure the transparency of the brokers' operations and is an intermediary between the investors and the broker. In case a problem arises and the investor believes that there were injustices in the execution of his orders or something like that - he can lodge a complaint with FinaCOM. The complaint will be reviewed, and the funds lost due to the boker will be returned to the investor.
I think this system works in a very similar way to CySEC and other regulators. The only difference is that FinaCOM does not object if the broker wants to offer a leverage greater than 1:20 for forex trading. This is a great advantage in my opinion.

Yes, you are correct that it is not a government office. It is an alliance of brokers that makes sure that all participants follow the rules. Technically it is not the same as CySEC. However, as an investor, what interests me is the results. I think everyone knows of cases where brokers completely regulated by government regulators turned out to be scammers.
